January’s Barman of the Month could be called a cut above the rest.

Benidorm’s Beautiful Barman of the Month for January is Darren Libby from Mojito Bar Dancefloor.

Darren is one the the newest arrivals on the barman scene but is no stranger to the gay scene in Benidorm.

Darren arrived in Spain just over six years ago hailing from deepest Cornwall although he claims he has not got a strong Cornish accent! This new grockle (those of us from the west country can explain this one to you) to the area was a hairdresser back in the UK where he worked his way up from a 15 year old apprentice (yes we have seen the pics and the term “Ahh Bless” is called for) to running a number of his own salons.

Darren had always had a hankering to live abroad from an early age, maybe because of the healthy lifestyle of the Mediterranean, the fantastic weather or perhaps the smoldering Spanish men, who know. So yet again England’s loss was our gain. Soon after moving here Darren was followed by his parents making his move to Spain complete “it’s always been my dream to live abroad, and with my parents here its a home from home” Darren said without a Cornish accent!

Arriving in Spain Darren opened up his own hair salon, firstly in Javea quickly followed by a second in Altea, where he quickly gained a great reputation as a quality stylist and those of us who have sampled his talents can support this view.

Selling his salons, Darren decided it was time for a change and having heard many times the cry from the Benidorm scene for a large dance venue, he decided to make this need a reality. And so, at the start of 2010 Mojito Benidorm was born.

The club has been a labour of love for Darren, who has done most of the renovation work himself, getting help with the larger jobs from his father. “The finished club is just how I envisaged it would look” Darren told us, “I want to have a young dance venue to give Benidorm somewhere to go to dance to the early hours, without paying through the nose for your drinks”

Ok so here is the bits you need to know if you are to make an impression on our Beautiful Barman. Firstly, and most importantly he was at pains to point out that he is single! He love Vodka, but make sure its Absolute, this boy has expensive tastes. His birthday is 5th June no year mentioned. He lists one of his fondest hobbies as beaches and can often be found gracing Raco Conil. (say no more!!). He says he doesn’t have a type but this thrink (a twink in his thirties) does seen to like a real man.

So if you fancy a great night out, while being served by a hot barman then Mojito Benidorm and Darren are for you. He looks forward to seeing you there.
