Beautiful Barman of the Month – January 2011

Well just as I was about to nominate myself for Barman of the Month I received a fabulous email nominating Andrew from Klee Kafe.

Here is the nomination we received. It’s so sweet!

I think Andrew has a great personality he is not only a great barman but he also does a great job on the mike and a brilliant sounds man he also has a way with the customers and a great sense of humor and devilment that draws you to the bar he always has something to say and it is different every night his voice is so welcoming and his wit is so funny and charming you just can’t stop laughing or stay away form Klee Kafe.

How nice is that eh?
So I arranged a meeting to go and have a chat with the man himself. I caught up with Andrew in Klee Kafe on his night off. I chatted to Andrew whilst sipping a Vodka and Diet Coke whilst hilarious drag act Miss Shelia Blige performed on stage.

So Andrew, first things first, thank you for agreeing to meet me, and succumb to my interrogation!
Where are you from in the UK?

I am from Ware in Hertfordshire, very posh dear!

Oh how lovely, I like those posh places. So tell us about your pervious career/jobs.

Well before I came to Benidorm I was a factory Forman in a large Furniture Manufacturers, I did that for about 7 years.
I believe I moved to Benidorm February 2002. I have been a barman/Compare/soundman here in Kafe Klee for about 5-6 years now. I am also the “Chef-ette” in Bar Domino during the day.

Wow you are a busy boy! So tell us about your love life. Married, Single or Other?

I got together with my wonderful partner Lee (also works in Kafe Klee) on January 1st 2003.

God I can’t believe you can remember the date, I can’t even remember the day I was born! So that’s a pretty long-term relationship… in the Gay world that is! Have either of you popped the question yet?

(Pauses, and looks at Lee) Sort of… he would have to take me to Las Vegas and do it! He would also have to get me a pizza and I would pick the topping!

Ok, so exotic destination but easy to please when I comes to cuisine… I like your style Andrew!
Any hobbies or interests outside of work?

I love re-building cars especially Mini’s, I built my old mini from scratch! I also love to sleep as many people do in Benidorm, maybe a little sex… then more sleep!

How very butch, you’re almost a real man…lol.

Ponche and Diet Coke

Favourite Bar, anywhere in the world?

It would have to been at home, with my Lee!

Aw bless, Best one liner or favourite saying?

I don’t have one but I have an annoying habit of correcting people’s grammar. Also talking in a southern accent… you know, Bath, Glass said in the correct way!

I know what you mean being from the South myself. Ok, what is your favourit cuisine?

Leonardo Dicaprio totally!

Yum delicious. Ideal man… and it can’t be Lee!

Erm I guess it has to be Adam Rickett, but when he was younger and in the charts.

Have you ever had a celebrity encounter?

I’m not really into celebrities that much Sam. I did meet the Duchess of Kent when I was working in the UK. Oh yeah I also bumped into Andy Bell from Erasure in a gay bar in Peterbourgh.

Any embarrassing stories you care to share with our readers?

Oh shit loads! I picked a fight with my own reflection when I was trashed in the Look! I can’t remember but Lee can.
Here is another great story. I was in Dominos and there was this woman giving me evils for ages. I was just about to go and rip into her for staring at me when Del slapped me and told me she had a glass eye!

Ha ha ha that is brilliant! So where can you be spotted on a night out on the town?

I like to hang out in Klee and Dominos I guess, oh and Hagar’s Bar. I like to go to the New Town sometimes, just to get away from it all.

Time for the Bucket List question. You have one week to live and all the money in the world. What would be the first five things you would do?
1.    Go into Space
2.    Buy the fastest car on the planet
3.    Take all my closest mates on the holiday of a lifetime, a quick holiday that is!
4.    I would buy Buckingham Palace and evict the Queen and family.
5.    Then I would invite Prince William and the Queen round for dinner!
